ENGAGEMENT of Princess Madeleine of Sweden to Jonas Bergström

After His Majesty The King of Sweden had given his consent to the marriage between 

Princess Madeleine and Mr Jonas Bergstöm,

Press Release 2010-04-26: Princess Madeleine and Mr Jonas Bergström to separate. After careful consideration, Princess Madeleine and Mr Jonas Bergström have made a joint decision to separate. They have come to the conclusion that a separation is the best course of action for them both. Princess Madeleine and Mr Jonas Bergström would like to appeal to the media to show respect and consideration in light of their decision. 

They now need some peace and privacy during this difficult time. The excessive level of media coverage is not helping their situation. We would ask for understanding in respect of the decision not to release any further statements.
