ENGAGEMENT of Crown Prince Willem-Alexander of Orange to Máxima Zorreguieta

At 18.00 hours on Friday, 30 March 2001, Her Majesty the Queen announced the engagement of His Royal Highness Prince Willem-Alexander, Prince of Orange, Prince of the Netherlands, Prince of Orange-Nassau, Jonkheer Van Amsberg, and Ms Máxima Zorreguieta.

The announcement was broadcast live on television in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Claus of the Netherlands and the Engaged Couple.

ENGAGEMENT of Crown Prince Haakon of Norway to Mette-Marit Tjessem Høiby

Crown Prince Haakon met Miss Mette-Marit Tjessem Høiby (b. 19th August 1973 in Kristiansand) briefly already four years ago through mutual friends, but it was not until the summer of 1999 that they really got to know each other. 

They became a couple in the autumn and the romance became publicly known at the end of that year. The Crown Prince himself confirmed the relationship in a TV interview in May 2000.
